Before the Ride

1. Verify the Driver and Vehicle:

• Match the Vehicle: Check that the car's make, model, color, and license plate match the details provided in the app.

• Confirm the Driver: Verify the driver’s name and photo with the person behind the wheel. You can also ask the driver to confirm your name by saying, “Who are you picking up?”

2. Wait in a Safe Location:

• Stay Indoors: If possible, wait inside until the driver arrives to avoid standing outside alone.

• Be Aware of Your Surroundings: Keep an eye on the environment and avoid waiting in poorly lit or isolated areas.

3. Share Your Trip Details:

• Use the App's Safety Features: Most ride-hailing apps allow you to share your trip details, including your route and estimated arrival time, with a trusted friend or family member.

• Enable GPS Tracking: Ensure your location services are on so that your trip can be tracked in real-time by someone you trust.

During the Ride

4. Sit in the Back Seat:

• Maximize Distance: Sitting in the back seat, preferably on the passenger side, allows you to keep some distance from the driver and easily exit the vehicle from either side.

• Avoid Distractions: Don’t let yourself get too engrossed in your phone or other distractions. Stay aware of your surroundings.

5. Buckle Up:

• Use Seat Belts: Always wear your seat belt, even on short trips. It’s the simplest way to protect yourself in the event of an accident.

6. Monitor the Route:

• Follow Along: Use your app or another GPS service to monitor the route your driver is taking. If the driver deviates significantly from the suggested route, politely ask why.

• Trust Your Instincts: If something feels off, don’t hesitate to speak up or ask the driver to stop in a safe, public place.

7. Keep Personal Information Private:

• Limit Conversation: While friendly conversation is fine, avoid sharing too much personal information with the driver.

After the Ride

8. Exit Safely:

• Check for Traffic: Before stepping out, ensure that it’s safe to exit the vehicle, especially if you’re getting out on the street side.

• Double-Check Belongings: Make sure you have all your belongings before closing the door.

9. Provide Feedback:

• Rate the Driver: After your ride, rate the driver based on your experience. If you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, report it immediately through the app.

• Use In-App Safety Features: Most apps offer an option to report any issues directly through the app, including unsafe driving or inappropriate behavior.

10. Report Any Concerns:

• Contact Customer Support: If you experience any issues during your ride, report them to the ride-hailing company’s customer support. They can assist with further action if necessary.
