What to do if your driver cancels

  • Rebook the Ride

  1. Request a New Driver:

    • Open the ride-hailing app again and rebook your ride. Often, when a driver cancels, the app will automatically assign you a new driver.

  2. Check Availability:

    • If drivers are available, you should be able to get a new ride quickly. The app will provide an estimated arrival time for the next driver.

  • Check for Cancellation Fee (If Applicable)

  1. Verify if You Were Charged:

    • Some ride-hailing apps may charge a small cancellation fee if your driver cancels after a certain point (e.g., they were close to your pickup location).

  2. Dispute the Fee:

    • If you feel the cancellation fee is unfair (e.g., the driver canceled for no valid reason), you can report the issue and request a refund. Follow these steps:

      • Go to the Help or Support section of the app.

      • Select the relevant trip and choose the option to dispute the charge or request a refund.

      • Provide details of why you believe the fee should be refunded (e.g., driver canceled unexpectedly).

  • Report the Cancellation (Optional)

  1. Give Feedback on the Driver’s Cancellation:

    • Provide feedback about your experience when a driver cancels. Use this option if the cancellation caused inconvenience or seemed unprofessional.

  2. Select the Reason:

    • You may see options such as "Driver canceled without reason," "Driver was too far away," or "Driver didn’t show up." Select the most relevant reason for reporting the cancellation.

  • Avoid Future Cancellations

  1. Check Driver’s Rating Before Booking:

    • Some apps show the driver’s rating before the ride is confirmed. Choosing higher-rated drivers may reduce the chance of cancellation.

  2. Be Ready for Pickup:

    • Drivers are more likely to cancel if they have to wait for a long time at your pickup point. Ensure you’re ready when requesting the ride and standing in a visible location.

Common Reasons for Driver Cancellations:

  1. Long Distance to Pickup: If the driver has to travel a long distance to pick you up, they may cancel the trip.

  2. Traffic or Road Issues: Roadblocks, heavy traffic, or bad weather can cause drivers to cancel.

  3. Destination Concerns: Drivers sometimes cancel if their destination is too far or in a location they’re not comfortable with.

  4. Driver’s Personal Reasons: Drivers may cancel due to personal emergencies or other commitments.
