1. Receiving a Ride Request

Ride Request Notification:

  • Purpose: When a passenger requests a ride, you’ll receive a notification on your app.

  • How It Appears: A pop-up will appear on your screen with details like the passenger’s location, the estimated fare, and the distance to the pick-up point.

Accepting the Ride:

  • How to Accept: Tap the Accept button within the time limit (usually a few seconds). This will confirm that you’re taking the ride and will direct you to the passenger's pick-up location.

  • Important Considerations:

    • Assess the Distance: Before accepting, quickly check the distance to the pick-up location to ensure it’s reasonable for you.

    • Estimate Time of Arrival (ETA): Consider the traffic conditions and your estimated time to reach the passenger.

2. Navigating to the Pick-Up Location

Starting Navigation:

  • Integrated Map Feature: After accepting the ride, the app will automatically display the best route to the pick-up location using its integrated navigation system.

  • How to Start: Tap Navigate or follow the directions provided on the map. The app will give you turn-by-turn directions.

Communicating with the Passenger:

  • Optional Communication: If needed, you can contact the passenger through the app to confirm the pick-up location or inform them of any delays.

  • Using Quick Messages: Some apps offer pre-written messages (e.g., “I’m on my way”) that you can send with a single tap.

3. Arriving at the Pick-Up Location

Confirming Your Arrival:

  • Mark as Arrived: Once you’ve reached the pick-up location, tap the Arrived button in the app. This notifies the passenger that you are waiting for them.

  • Be Visible: Make sure your vehicle is easily visible to the passenger, and if needed, use your vehicle’s hazard lights.

Waiting for the Passenger:

  • Wait Time: The app may start a timer indicating how long you’ve been waiting. Some platforms offer a small waiting period for free, after which waiting fees may apply.

  • Contacting the Passenger: If the passenger is taking longer than expected, you can call or message them via the app to check their status.

4. Starting the Ride

Passenger Boarding:

  • Verify Passenger: Confirm the passenger’s name to ensure you’re picking up the right person. You can say something like, “Hi, are you [Passenger’s Name]?”

  • Assist if Necessary: If the passenger has luggage or other items, offer assistance to help them load these into the vehicle.

Starting the Trip:

  • Begin the Ride: Once the passenger is seated and ready, tap the Start Ride button on the app. This will initiate the trip and begin the fare calculation.

Navigating to the Destination:

  • Follow the Navigation: The app will automatically guide you to the passenger’s destination using the best available route.

  • Passenger Preferences: Some passengers might have a preferred route. If they suggest one, follow their directions unless it’s significantly longer or unsafe.

5. During the Ride

Maintaining Communication:

  • Polite Conversation: Engage in light conversation if the passenger seems open to it, but be mindful of their preferences. Some passengers may prefer a quiet ride.

  • Safety First: Always prioritize safe driving practices. Follow traffic laws, avoid distractions, and drive smoothly.

Checking the Route:

  • Monitoring Progress: Periodically check the app to ensure you’re on the correct route and that there are no unexpected delays.

  • Adjusting Route: If there’s heavy traffic or roadblocks, the app may suggest an alternative route. Follow these suggestions to ensure a timely arrival.

6. Completing the Ride

Arriving at the Destination:

  • End the Ride: Once you reach the passenger’s destination, tap the End Ride button on the app. This stops the fare meter and finalizes the trip.

  • Assist with Exiting: If the passenger has luggage or other items, offer assistance as they exit the vehicle.

Fare Calculation:

  • Automatic Fare: The app will automatically calculate the fare based on the distance traveled, time, and any applicable surcharges (e.g., tolls, surge pricing).

  • Passenger Payment: Depending on the platform and the passenger’s preference, payment may be handled automatically through the app, or the passenger may pay in cash.

7. Collecting Feedback

Passenger Rating:

  • Rating the Passenger: After completing the ride, the app may prompt you to rate the passenger. Provide a fair rating based on your experience.

Reviewing Feedback:

  • Check for Feedback: The passenger may leave feedback that you can review later to see how you can improve future rides.
