Eligibility Requirements for Becoming a Driver

Before joining Okito as a partner driver, ensure you meet the qualifications below. These requirements are designed to maintain safety, reliability, and compliance with Philippine regulations. 


Basic Qualifications

To apply, you must meet the following:

  • Minimum Age: 21 years old
  • Driver’s License: Must hold a valid Professional Driver’s License issued by the Land Transportation Office
  • Driving Experience: At least 1–2 years of driving experience, preferably with the vehicle type you intend to use


Vehicle Requirements

Your vehicle must meet the following standards:

  • Ownership or Authorization:
    • Registered under your name, or
    • Supported by a notarized authorization letter from the owner
  • Vehicle Condition:
    • Must be roadworthy and well-maintained
    • All essential components (brakes, lights, horn, etc.) must be fully functional
  • Vehicle Type:
    • Four-door vehicle (sedan, MPV, or SUV)
    • Must comfortably accommodate at least 4 passengers
  • Vehicle Age:
    • Typically within 7–10 years old (subject to platform standards)
  • Registration:
    • Must have valid OR/CR issued by the LTO
  • Insurance:
    • Must be covered by comprehensive insurance, including passenger coverage


Required Documents

Prepare clear and updated copies of the following:

  • Professional Driver’s License
  • Vehicle OR/CR (Official Receipt & Certificate of Registration)
  • Proof of Insurance
  • NBI Clearance (issued by the National Bureau of Investigation)
  • (If required) Police Clearance


Additional Compliance Requirements

Depending on regulatory and platform requirements, you may also need:

  • Drug Test Result
  • Medical Certificate confirming fitness to drive
  • Attendance in a driver orientation or training session

These ensure that all drivers meet safety and service standards.


Screening and Onboarding

All applicants go through a review process:

  • Background Verification:
    Includes checking driving history and submitted documents
  • Application Review:
    Okito evaluates your eligibility and compliance
  • Onboarding:
    Once approved, you will complete:
    • App setup
    • Basic training or walkthrough
    • Familiarization with platform guidelines


Regulatory Compliance (Philippines)

To legally operate as a ride-hailing driver:

  • Your vehicle must be registered as a TNVS (Transport Network Vehicle Service)
  • Accreditation is issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board
  • You may be required to secure:
    • Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) or
    • Provisional Authority (PA)
  • Approved vehicles must display the official TNVS identification sticker


Fees and Charges

Please be aware of the following:

  • Application-related costs
    May include document processing, clearances, and accreditation fees
  • Platform commission
    Okito charges a percentage of each completed ride as a service fee
